President, The Campbell Foundation

Dr. S. Terry Canale received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN and served his orthopaedic residency at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. Dr. Canale joined the staff of Campbell Clinic in 1974 as a specialist in pediatric orthopaedics and sports medicine.

Dr. Canale is the Chairman of the University of Tennessee-Campbell Clinic Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and serves as co-director of the pediatric fellowship program. Dr. Canale is Chief of Pediatric Orthopaedics at Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center.

Throughout his career, Dr. Canale has been active in a number of local, regional and national orthopedic organizations, including serving as president of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA), and Orthopaedics Overseas.

With a strong interest in research and education, Dr. Canale has contributed significantly to the orthopaedic literature in both journals and textbooks, serving as editor for three editions of Campbell’s Operative Orthopaedics and is currently the Editor-in-Chief of AAOS Now. He is also chairman of The Campbell Foundation’s Research Committee.
